Tad Craig Photography

Surprise engagements are Tad Craig's favorite thing to photograph, because the person being asked realizes in an instant that their life has just changed. His photography started with a Nikon FE2, a high school graduation present back home in Telluride, Colorado. Maui became his base, and over two decades he has shot well over a thousand weddings, elopements and events. He mostly watches for the candid moment and steps in to direct when a couple needs it, and by the end of a session it tends to feel like photographing friends. He'll help plan the proposal, and he doesn't give up easily. One on Lanai fell on the day Hurricane Lowell came closest to the islands. Plans A to D fell apart, and plan E came off in front of a giant art deco whale. Another client took his tip to book Merriman's, so the shoot finished on the rocks below the restaurant at sunset, with dinner a few steps away.
