The photos from their own wedding left LaRon and Mia Kampka unhappy, so in June 2022 they started PKA, and their Little Italy team now numbers about ten. LaRon studied at the Brooks Institute of Photography, Mia came from commercial advertising and design, and most of the team shoot both photo and video.
The proposal package is mostly planning. You get location ideas, help with a permit if the spot needs one, maps and mockup images of the setup, a Plan B, outfit suggestions and support from a concierge. They'll also bring in the extras, whether that's a picnic, a sailboat, musicians or signs. Two hours makes more sense than one, since the second hour gives you engagement photos you can use on the wedding invitations and it's the only length that comes with a video option.
Every surprise is treated as a small mission, with the photographer hiding behind bushes or parked cars or in a crowd. On New Year's Eve 2023 a stretch of Coronado Beach had nowhere to hide, so the photographer struck up a friendship with a stranger and his puppy, and the three of them passed as ordinary beachgoers until the question was asked.
