AND Events is Ann-Marie and Dominic Kaikaty, a couple in life and in business, and the name is their initials joined by the ampersand. Ann-Marie is the designer and stylist. Dominic brings more than 15 years in hotels, including One&Only and Emirates, and he runs the delivery side. They style weddings and picnics as well, and proposals are one of their lines, from a picnic at dawn to a private suite.

Two proposals they styled, both shown on their site, give a sense of the range. In one, Daniel asked Christabel at dawn in Blues Point Reserve, at a wooden table set with white fur rugs, gold throws and lace umbrellas. The other was a starry-night dinner at Novotel Brighton Beach, with golden columns, light-up initials, a live acoustic singer and pyrotechnics. Both were set up before the couple arrived and packed down after. Of the two, the dawn picnic is the one to copy, because it asks less of a venue: a park, first light and a table that's already set.
