The Proposal Studios is Jeremy Glickstein's dedicated proposal studio, kept separate from his wedding work. Jeremy spent more than ten years as a professional actor and acting coach, then years of fine art street photography. About half the people he photographs warn him beforehand that they don't photograph well. His answer is to give them things to do, mostly with each other, until they stop thinking about the camera.
The proposal itself is planned step by step: the route you walk, where he waits and a quiet signal that you're in place. He stays hidden until after the yes. On the day he turns up twenty to thirty minutes ahead and works with the spot as it is that evening, which means checking where the sun is going down and which flowers or trees he can frame you inside. Every booking names an indoor or covered backup, and moving to a clear day costs nothing extra. A lot of his couples plan from out of state, by email and a call.
Ping Tom Memorial Park in Chinatown is the one to ask him about, one of his own favorites. The red pavilion sits on a bend in the river with downtown behind it, so you get the downtown skyline from the south.
