Yorkshire Jewellery Company is a family-run jeweller in Saltburn-by-the-Sea, on the North Yorkshire coast, and Whitby jet is their signature. The family collect it themselves from rock pools on the local beaches, where pieces wash up after falling from the cliffs, and shape and polish it in their own workshop. Jet is fossilised wood, prized for its deep black and the shine it takes when polished. Their jet engagement rings set it in gold or platinum, some with diamonds, each one handmade to order, and for a diamond ring there is a step-by-step ring builder.
